Home Care

Home Care also known as Personal Care Home, Group Homes, Board and Care and Foster Care Homes are all terms used to describe homes that are used as facilities.  Personal Care Home and Group Homes are the most widely used terms to describe Home Care.  So what is a Home Care Facility?  Well just like Assisted Living Facilities they may range in services and prices.  Home Care (Personal Care Homes) are a growing popularity in many cities around the country.  They provide excellent care at substantially lower cost than any other facility.  Most Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) provide care to a limited number of residents from 3-10 residents on average.

Most Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) are located in lovely homes in and around your communities and you wouldn't even know it.  Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) may have many of the same amenities that you would see in an Assisted living facility.  They main difference is the size and cost.  The small size of the Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) allow the staff to provide very personalized care.  Most of the Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) are run by the owner and are family run.  This means that you will be working directly with the owner of the facility or the owner is very involved from day to day operations.

Level of care can range from Light level to Total Care depending on each Home Care facility (Personal Care Home).  Some may require that the resident is able to walk while other Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) will allow wheelchair use.  Some Home Care facility (Personal Care Homes) provide Dementia and or Alzheimer's care services while others may not.

The pricing may range widely depending on the level of services provided by the Home Care facility (Personal Care Home).  Generally, they are anywhere from 20-40% less expensive than typical Assisted Living facilities and can be 30-60% less expensive than Nursing Homes.  Due to the fact that most are family run they are able to provide excellent care at a much less overhead thus providing more affordable rates.

Many of the Home Care facility (Personal Care Homes) hold the same license type as Assisted Living Facilities but for a smaller amount of residents.  All Licensed Home Care facility (Personal Care Homes) are inspected annually by the State according to their License.  Only facilities providing care for three residents or less are exempt from licensing in Texas.  Most States require licensing regardless of number of residents.

Generally, Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) are more “All Inclusive” in pricing and services.  In other words there are less charges for level of care.  In most Assisted Living facilities there are levels of care charts where every detail of care add to the cost.  In most Home Care facilities (Personal Care Homes) care tends to be lumped in general levels of care and you don't get charged for many little services, they are included.
